Armageddon Saga
Chapter Twenty: Revelations 2
By the Lady Sirona  ladysirona@LadySirona.com

Giles and Karl sat downstairs at the kitchen table drinking tea. Karl looked at the
Watcher.  He was the support to the Slayer. If he accepted this Angel, then he must not
been the monster his ancestors fought with. "How long did you know he was a vampire?"
            Karl asked Giles quietly.

Giles looked at Karl.  He invited them into his home, he deserved an explanation. "When
he first started helping Buffy, I, we, didn't know. Later, three ah, dangerous vampires
attacked Buffy, and she would have died, had he not come to her aide that night. He got
hurt and she took him home, invited him in, and bandaged him up." He looked at the
shocked look Karl had at the Slayer inviting a vampire into her home.

Giles continued  "He slept in her room that night on the floor.  She says he was a, ah,
perfect gentleman.  The next night they admitted their attraction to each other, and
although he was trying to distance himself from her, they kissed.  That was when he
showed his true face. That was when, we found out he was a vampire." Giles thought
back to that time.  Her devastation was total; she was already in love with him
            completely, undead and all.

"Angel was framed by the vampire who changed him, it was made to look like he bite her
mother, and Buffy set out to kill him. We found out it was not him, that bite her mother.
Angel killed his creator that night, to save Buffy." Giles took a deep drink of his tea as
Karl struggled with himself, and tried to accept Angel...Angelus... as the savior of the
Slayer, and as a "good person". “I don’t know if you know that in vampire culture killing
your sire is almost unheard of. It just isn’t done.”

"He has saved her life and ours numerous times.  I would have lost my Slayer many a
time, had he not been at her side. He even helped her fight the vampire Master. This trip
here isn't easy for him either." Karl looked at him. Giles continued. "I have never seen
anyone with more guilt and remorse for actions done by a demon, and that were far
beyond any of his control, as I have seen in Angel."

Karl stared at Giles. The man he described wasn't the monster that he was told was
Angelus.  The man he described was one you want to call friend. And what he had seen
of the dark and quiet man, he was a reliable friend.

"Oh, I met your demon monster Angelus." Giles snarled. "With Buffy, he was happy, and
she gave him that one moment of complete happiness...." Giles drifted off. Karl knew the
result of that simple statement meant.

"On the night of her seventeenth birthday, they consummated their relationship. He was
completely happy and so Angelus returned and Angel's soul was gone." Giles closed his
eyes in pain; his loss of Jenny, the loss for Buffy.. "Yes, I met the monster.  I even tried
to kill him myself." Giles looked down, avoiding Karl's eyes.

Karl looked at the Watcher carefully. "She said Angelus killed your girlfriend?"

Giles looked away. "Yes. Angelus, he killed her. Her name was Jenny Calendar" Karl's
head snapped up.  Giles noticed but continued. "Yes, I am aware she was Angelus'
assigned Watcher from your tribe. I do not hold ill feeling for her deceit, any longer."

"Angelus killed her?" Karl looked stricken. "We had been only told she had died. Not the
            true cause of her death."

"Yes, after he lost his soul and the demon was once again in control, he stalked us, all of
us. He killed Jenny when he discovered that she recovered the original spell to re-curse
him."  Giles ignored the tears streaking down his cheeks.

Karl looked at the mourning Watcher. "I am sorry you lost your Jenny Calendar.  I too
lost a loved one.  I lost my daughter Janna, Jenny was my daughter." Giles looked at
Karl in surprise. "If my grandfather had just done the original spell, you would have your
woman, and I would have my daughter since Janna, Jenny would be alive.  Maybe I
would have even at some time called you Son."

They sat together in silence waiting mourning their loss.
