NO CLUE part 1Hank Summers was driving into Sunnydale and he was steamed. His ex-wife Joyce had called him at the crack of dawn and told him she had caught his 17 year old daughter having sex in the shower with her older boyfriend. When he had asked how old he looked she said about 24-25, and then added that he bit her, they were having vampiric sex! This had totally freaked Joyce out...she kept mumbling "He's a vampire..."
As Hank turned onto Main street in Sunnydale, he swore at it taking so long to get out of LA. It was now mid afternoon and he was not looking forward to facing the two of them down. Part of him wanted to never meet the man his daughter was involved with, another part wanted to kill him...
Vampiric sex. Shit. * Hank had seen those twisted puppies in LA He hated the way they slunk around and acted like vampires... and His daughter is a Slayer... why would she be into vampiric sex? A twisted sort of some type of rebellion?
Hank was raging internally as he drove up to the house. He made himself sit in the car for a few minutes to calm down. His 17 year old little girl was having kinky sex in the shower with an older man. First thing Hank planned to do was to have this Angel arrested for child molestation. An older man 24 or 25 years old with a minor 16 years old was obviously statutory rape.
Buffy and Angel were in her bedroom. Buffy looked out the window as she heard her dad drive up in the driveway with a racing of the motor "Oh boy.... he looks PISSED..." . Glancing out the window she commented to a groggy Angel. She turned to her sleeping lover who was attempting to rest in the day. Angel rolled over and looked at her groggily. He hated trying to function in the daylight… “Who does?"
Buffy moaned to herself. Gone was the sure and aggressive Slayer. Standing there now was the child, afraid of impending parental censure. * This is NOT gonna be pretty... * She looked down at herself in her baby doll night gown and Angel lounging in her bed… nude. Definitely wasn’t going to be pretty…
Reality hit on Angel. "Oh shit your dad is here already?" He glanced around. Great. Here was the father of the girl he got caught fucking in the shower and he was in her bed… nude. Could it get worse? "The hour of execution is at hand- why hasn't he come in yet?"
“My dad is here. I told you - he would break the land speed record.. The way he looks, you might not be too far off. He looks like he's trying to calm down. God...that is never a good sign” Buffy winced at the thought.. Whenever he did that, his anger was horrible to behold. The thought and memory sent her shivering.
Angel rolled over and started to look for his clothes. Getting caught in her bedroom was bad enough, getting caught nude would be hideous. "Buffy, I am sorry but I seriously doubt one middle aged man will seriously hurt me. I promise not to hurt him either."
"I know, but he looks awfully angry." Buffy wrung her hands. She didn’t relish the forthcoming altercation. She had always hated angering her father. His temeper was one of the things her mother said was a cause of the divorce.
"Well, I would rather meet him dressed and on my feet, than nude, in your bed. That may not be a good place for him to find me right now." Angel stood and slid on the pants Willow had brought him from the mansion. He felt better now that he had some clothes on. “Let’s go meet him then.”
"No, wait! Let me talk to him first. Maybe I can diffuse the situation - if I can." Buffy just knew she should keep her father and Angel apart as long as possible. Hank was not known for his rationality when angered. Angel wasn’t know for his passivity when attacked. A bad combination.
Angel looked at his lover and snickered. "I don't hide behind a woman’s skirts. And God knows, yours aren't big enough to hide behind even if I wanted to." He smiled at the thought of him trying to hide his large 6’ 1” frame behind the scraps of cloth Buffy called a skirt.
"Don't make me prove you wrong right now. I may be the only thing that stands between you and him." She was becoming frantic. Angel could see the hold Hank had on her was for the child she was, and not the woman she had become. This was obviously the first time she had ever stood up to him… and she was terrified.
"OK, Buffy. I will stay up here until you call for me, but keep him out of here OK? I don't want to have him go off on me." He knew Buffy had to do it her way… without his intervention. She was cutting the childhood bonding with her father… and needed to do it on her own, in her own way.
"Oh, yeah. I won't even let him on the stairs!" Buffy threw on her clothes, making sure to wear a T shirt which did not make her look childish as she saw Hank get out of his car and walk slowly to the door.
Angel finished dressing and laid back down and closed his eyes. His ability to sleep under stress amazed her. *God he's beautiful. * She thought to herself as she brushed his hair off his forehead and leaned down and kissed him gently. H smiled in his sleep. Buffy left the room and heads downstairs to face her irate father…
As he knocked on the front door, Hank thought * I never thought I would be coming here for this reason - but with all the trouble Buffy has gotten into over the last two years…I guess this was inevitable. How do I act? Firm? Do I wait for her to explain? Wait a minute...explain what? She's fucking an older man!!! Do I just beat the shit out of him, or call the cops and have him arrested for child molestation? I know. Beat the shit out of him and THEN call and have him arrested... yeah that's what I'll do. *
Joyce opened the door. "Glad you could make it. Come on in if you can." She looked at her ex husband in frustration, and then turned away looking lost. Anger boiled in Hank anew at this man who had caused this, who had sullied his daughter. He wondered momentarily at the odd invitation into the house.
Buffy stopped on the stairs when she heard the knock, and looked over the railing at the gang in the living room who were there for her, for support. *Man I have a feeling this is gonna get UGLY * She ran down the stairs.
Hank entered the house looking at Joyce as he thought * That was a weird invitation.* He entered into the entrance way and turned to see a whole crowd in the living room. *What we are on a TV show? Who are all these people? *
"Hi Dad." Buffy gave him a little wave. She looked over at the Slayerettes with a unspoken prayer for moral support. They all smiled at Buffy, glad they were not her.
"Hank I want you to meet Rupert Giles... Buffy's Librarian at school and her Watcher." Joyce started to introduce the crowd to Hank. He ignored Buffy entirely, and nodded to Giles, trying to remember what the hell a Watcher was... something to do with the Slayer business. Joyce continued with the introductions "These are Willow, Oz, Xander and Cordelia, Buffy's friends and they assist her in the Slayer stuff."
*Oh beautiful. Typical.* Buffy looked at her Father who totally ignored her. The Slayerettes didn’t fair much better. Hank ignored them also as he turned to Joyce snarling the challenge "Where is HE?" Joyce stopped cold never hearing such anger and hatred in Hanks voice before. Had calling him been a mistake?
Buffy sighed. "He’s Upstairs..." Praying he wasn’t going to do just what she KNEW he would do. Hank nodded at Willow, having forgotten her name, in response to her little “hello” before he started toward the stairs. "Well, I want to meet him!" Buffy’s heart sat in her mouth… Oh NO! Hank was surprised when it was Joyce who grabbed his arm. "NO. Hank. You need to sit down now."
Buffy tried to stop him. "Dad! Wait…" he rounded on her quickly. "I advise you to sit down and be silent young lady. I can't believe you want to drag your dirty laundry out in front of all your friends, but if you do, that is your business. But you will be silent at this time." Hank spat out with the rapidity of a machine gun.
Buffy raised her eyebrow at him. "I DON'T THINK SO." She began to seriously fear for Angel. In this state, her father could potentially hurt him.
Giles tried to calm her. "Buffy, please don't aggravate the situation." She glared at her watcher and threw him a look that just screamed ‘Giles, look at him.’
Faith came wandering into the interchange chewing gum, wearing leather pants, tight shirt and swaying hips. “Hi guys, what's hanging?”
Buffy looked up at the ceiling… give her peace from harassment "Leave now Faith."
Hank looked at her and said, "Who the hell is this?" If this was the sort of friends Buffy hung out with.. it was not unusual she was fucking older men in the shower and playing vampire games. This girl was a blatant slut.

Giles looked at Hank. This was not the time for him to meet Faith. "She is the Other Slayer. She's staying here." Giles frowned at her style of dress. He had thought Buffy dress atrocious…Hank turned and looked at Giles. He was confused with this additional information. "I thought there was only one in the world."
"So did we. It is somewhat complicated. We will discuss it after this problem right now. Now please can we all site and discuss this civilly?" Giles waved Hank to a chair in an attempt to divert his anger form driving him upstairs to find a sleeping vampire
Buffy watched her Watcher with growing appreciation. "Can you handle this?" She whispered to him as she walked by him. Hank sat in the nearest chair, while G nodded to Buffy. "OK," Buffy said, walking into the living room to sit on the floor next to Willow and Oz.
"Mr. Summers, there is a great deal about your daughter you don't know." Giles started slowly while trying to figure out how to bring him up to speed without ruining everything in the process. "You found out last Summer that she was the Slayer, and now know it was the main cause of her troubles at school while in LA Sunnydale is on a Hellmouth and attracts quite a wide variety of problems as well, hence the Slayer being in the Hell mouth. Your daughter is 17, but she is an adult in the mystical sense of the word."
Buffy glanced at her father as Giles talked and said under her breath "That's an understatement."
That was too much for Hank. "Bullshit! My daughter is 17! And Joyce found her... found her..." his anger dampened a little as he stuttered to a stop. How the hell could he describe how Joyce found her?
"Found her in an… indelicate situation with the man she loves?" Giles interrupted his stuttering stop quietly. He felt for the man whose daughter had grown up all too fast. "A man until last night, she thought was dead and gone, by her own hand." Hank looked stunned, and Giles continued, "It was the belief that she had killed him and sent him to hell that caused your daughter's breakdown earlier in the summer, and the main reason of her running away, Mr. Summers, she couldn't bear what had happened. Last night he returned from Hell. Buffy found him and brought him home."
Buffy muttered "Knew we should have locked the door." Buffy, sitting next to Willow, was shaking slightly. They were all so involved with the story being told by Giles that they missed Hank's increasing anger.
Hank exploded. "That is one way to put it. You expect me to believe this bullshit? That she sent him to Hell? She killed him? How did you kill him Buffy and if you did so, why didn't he stay dead if you killed him and sent his ass to Hell?" he couldn’t believe how stupid they must think he was…
All heads turned as Angel's voice came from the stairway. "She ran me through with a sword through the heart and closed the portal to Hell with my blood." Buffy was looking up at him from her position on the floor with tears in her eyes, but Hank Summers had stood up and was looking at Angel with raw hate in his eyes. Angel's voice remained quiet, as he finished, "She did what she had to do to save the world, Mr. Summers."
Buffy stood prepared to protect her love. She used her Slayer voice as she said, "Dad. Sit down." Angel walked over to Buffy and sat behind her in the shadows. Buffy slowly leaned back against him.
Hank sat down again, angered at the affectionate display between his baby girl and this man. He turned to Giles seeking to address the other adult in the room "You actually think I am going to believe this bullshit?"
Buffy addressed he father quietly. "No, I don't. But it's the truth... we're tired of the lies."
"Then if you're tired of lies, then why tell the tales? The fact remains that your
mother caught you two in the shower having sex. And having vampiric sex at that!" Hank yelled at her. His face was getting red.Buffy rolled her eyes and replied, "Well, it fits... he IS a vampire." Seeing how poorly that was taken by her father, she muttered to Angel "That came out wrong, didn't it?" Angel nodded. This was getting uglier by the minute…
Hank was getting past his tolerance point. "Oh bullshit. I have seen his type before… playing with vampirism. You're a 17 year old girl and he is a obviously much older man. It just shows your inexperience, Buffy. Well, I for one have a plan." He nodded at Angel and said, "I am going to have you arrested for Statutory Rape and child molestation." He nodded at Giles, and continued, "And I will have your job for allowing this travesty to occur." He turned to Buffy and said, "And I will be taking you back to LA with me young lady, where I will keep a closer eye on your slutty behavior."
Joyce’s jaw dropped. In the time she had been divorced she had forgotten his temper and controlling behavior. "Hank!"
Buffy looked at her father grimily with her eyes narrowed and he vice clod and hard. "Oh that's it! Rational conversation is OVER."
Hank snorted "Rational conversation? You claim he is a vampire that you killed and sent to hell as an explanation on why you are fucking him in the shower like a bitch in heat, and you claim that is a rational conversation? You are a CHILD - one an older man has taken advantage of."
"I AM NOT A CHILD!" Buffy exploded.
Hank snarled. "You are a child. A minor and under the legal age of consent."
"But old enough to KILL things every night of my life for two years? Buffy snapped. How dense could her father be?
Hank raised an eyebrow, and said, "You expect me to believe the man that your mother is
outraged you have brought home is a real vampire? The same thing you claim you kill every night?" He looked at the assembled crowd and asked, "All of you believe this?"He was amazed when the entire group said in one voice, "YES."
Hank looked at Giles and told him, "You, I have a way to attack. I know you are the
school librarian, you support her fucking an older man? You did nothing to stop it?
Explain to me why I shouldn't have him arrested for child molestation?" He nodded toward Angel.Giles stuttered a little and replied, "I tried to stop them, but…"
Buffy said grimly, "With all I've seen and done I feel like I'm a hundred…"
Hank ignored her comments and added, " You are a minor and under the age of consent What if he got you pregnant? Would he make you an honorable woman would he care for you and the child? Buffy, I have serious doubts about this Slayer business... Now I wonder if it isn't some exotic role playing game like Dungeons and Dragons or the Masquerade. You claim he is a vampire in the same breath that you claim you're a vampire Slayer. Don't you see a problem with this lie?"
Buffy shook her head in disbelief and replied, "Christ, Dad... you're sitting in a room
with a vampire and a - " she looked over at Oz, who nodded his consent " - thanks - and a werewolf-"Hank sputtered, "Adding to the mythical menagerie Buffy? Who cares what kinky games the red heads play? I am discussing you, a supposed Slayer with a supposed Vampire."
Buffy sighed. She was getting nowhere with her father. "My whole life has been a LIE for years."
"It doesn't seem to be stopping now." Hank snarled. He couldn’t believe this crap.
Buffy felt Angel had a low growl starting, a glance showed his eyes are shut, but Buffy knew that they were yellow. This was going form bad to worse. Angel whispered to Buffy, "This isn't going well."
Buffy decided to answer truthfully and directly "He's a vampire, he can't get me pregnant."
"Well, his stud level aside and ability to get you or not get you pregnant, there is
still the fact you are a 17 year old minor for who it is inappropriate to be dallying with
an obviously much older man. I don't care what fantasies you live with of him being a
vampire - I have seen those vampire type people in LA and I should tell you I am not
amused. You told me you were a vampire slayer, if that is so, what are you doing sleeping with the enemy?"Buffy hung her head and said under her breath, "Having a hell of a good time."
Angel bit back a smiled and whispered to Buffy, "I think he has run into Ford's friends."
Buffy whispered back "Figured as much."Buffy said to Hank, "What would it take for you to believe it?", her tone of voice
revealing that she was starting to get pissed. Hank had stood and was pacing around getting closer and closer to Angel "Dad, back off."Angel calmed down and started again, "Mr. Summers, this is not how I wanted to meet you-"
"Damned right." Hank snarled.
"I know Buffy is young in this era, but in the standards of 1750's she could be an adult, but for this day and age she is not. I love your daughter very much and I would never do anything that is within my control that would hurt her." As he spoke, Buffy leaned back into him tiredly, her neck visible to the entire room. "I am a vampire. I was turned in 1753 and cursed with my soul in 1908 when I crossed some gypsies. That is what makes me different from the average vampire. I didn't know there was a clause to the curse, and when Buffy made me completely happy the night of her 17th Birthday I lost my soul. The demon reigned in my body and later opened the portal to hell... to save the world Buffy had to send me to Hell, I just got back last night." Buffy was shaking against him, and Angel tightened his arms around her.
Hank's expression was skeptical as he asked, "So now, in addition to telling me you're a
vampire you expect me to believe you're a cursed vampire and you went to Hell. What kind of an idiot do you take me for?" Hank strode over to Angel suddenly. "I see your mark on her neck you sadistic bastard!"Buffy stood quickly and ordered, "Don't." Hank had never seen her move that fast before. She stood before Angel seeking to protect the vampire form the irate father. Angel shook his head and answered, "No, baby, let him alone. I won't hurt him."
Buffy sighed, "I know Angel - but he's going to try and hurt you, and you're still weak."
"I will not listen to any more fairy tales about vampires and werewolves to justify you
turning my daughter into your personal whore, and molesting a child!" He grabbed Angel by the collar, yanked him up and slammed him into the wall. Hank said incredulously, "You won't hurt me?" his rage building.Faith pulled Buffy away at Giles' signal, who then motioned for everyone to be silent. Buffy sighed and her voice was resigned as she said to Angel: "Let him have it."
Angel's face was grim and his voice was flat, as he said, "Mr. Summers, remove your hands or you will see aside of me that you will not like. I guarantee it."
Hank scoffed, "Oh yeah, the infamous vampire side?" not noticing that everyone else was backing away. The had seen that side of Angel and did not look forward to seeing it again Xander tried to stop him form making a big mistake. He didn’t like Angel but having him kill Buffy’s dad wasn’t a good idea "Mr. Summers... it's really not a good idea... too late." He groaned.
Buffy breathed, "Oh boy," and backed away quickly.
Hank was oblivious to the rumbling growl emanating from Angel's throat and the minor signs of transformation beginning, as he continued, "I am going to kick your ass for turning my daughter into you personal slut, you son of a bitch, and then I am going to have you arrested for child mo-"
He was cut off by a deep resounding growl erupting from Angel's throat, and before Hank
could finish his sentence, he was held up against the wall looking down into the enraged vampire face of Angelus! Yellow eyes, fangs bared, deep ridges… Angel was deep into game face and the voice was harsh and rough, as he growled, "I have been more than patient with your insults and your laughter at me because you are the father of the woman I love. I have listened to the threats to me with the law of the land, which hasn't meant shit to me for over 245 years. But don't EVER insult her again, insult her integrity or her virtue or chastity. Do… I... make… my... self... clear..?" accentuating each word with a shake of Hank, like a rat in the grip of a terrier.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Angel..." Buffy put her hand on his arm as Angel twists and drops Hank to the floor, pushing him toward his chair. Angel then sat down behind Buffy and put his head on her shoulder, as he calmed down and morphed back to human as everyone watched."Holy shit..." Hank stood stunned in the center of the room, as Buffy leaned back against
Angel and wraps his arms around her. Hank backed away form Angel slowly and sat down into his chair slowly watching his every move. He kept staring at Buffy and Angel as he sat down.Angel hugged her to him receiving warmth and love in the embrace. This was not how to make friends with the father of the woman he loved. "Is he OK?"
She was tired of her father’s games and was glad to se him taken down a peg… put there was something pitiful in his fear. "Might need to change his underwear but other than that…"
Willow absently told the room, "I love it when he does the grrrrrrr thing…" then drifted off, looking around at everyone embarrassed. Buffy chuckled and replied, "Me too."
Giles looked at the newly awakened Mr. Summers. "I think that proves the vampire thing." Giles said in a soft sardonic voice. “He can't change unless it is the full moon. If he doesn't believe me, you will have to come back on the full moon for the werewolf proof . Somehow I don't think it will be a problem." Hank stared at them… oh god a werewolf too? "Mr. Summers. Everything you have been told here has been the truth."
Willow snickers, "We have to chain him up in the Library."
"Holy shit..." Hank continued to mumble to himself. Hank stared at the vampire bite on Buffy's neck, and remembered those fangs so close to his own throat. He suddenly couldn't stand to be in the same room with that thing. He stood and without a word and then walked out onto the front porch and sat on the step in the sunlight.
"I think I scared him. I think you need to go talk to him, he has had the wind knocked out of his sails." Angel told her calmly as he hugged her taking comfort in her touch. Giles nodded in agreement. Scared was too tame a word… terrified was closer…
"Good, he deserved it. Maybe I should go talk to him now." She kissed Angel, and slowly stood up, walking to the door and following Hank out onto the porch.
H stood in the warm sun and thought. * He is a vampire... he bit my little girl... she
loves a fucking vampire * He was sitting totally dejected on the front porch. He heard Buffy come out and he watched as she sat down next to him quietly. Hank looked at her - she has grown into such a beauty. Buffy sighed and told him, "I know you're disappointed with me... I'm sorry."Hank looked at her, his eyes locking on the neck bite and he shuddered, before saying,
"Buffy, I couldn't accept what you were saying, I couldn't believe it. He is a vampire...
a 245 year old vampire with a soul?""I know. I couldn't accept it either, at first... Yeah, he is."
"Your neck... he bites you, doesn't he? For real. It isn't a game for him, not like those others. He actually… drinks your blood?" His whole body shuddered with the thought of those fangs sinking into his baby girls flesh.
Buffy nodded, "Yes." She added quickly, "He doesn't hurt me."
"Does he do it often? Are you a food supply to him?" he hated the thought she was food to that thing…
Buffy shifted restlessly on the stair. "OK - here goes... ummmmm... The only time he bites me... is when we... oh God..." She whispered, unable to look at him, "When we make love."
"Make love?" He shuddered thinking of her making love with that thing…
Buffy hid her head from her father. "Yeah."
Hank responds slowly.. the reality is sinking in… “That was what your mother was babbling about... she caught the two of you in the shower... you were having sex... and he was drinking your blood." He looked at her. It all fit now.
Buffy nodded. "He needs blood to... you know... and I let him have mine."
Hank muttered, "Oh God," before he looked away shyly. He couldn't believe he was
discussing vampiric sex with his 17 year old daughter."Yeah. Pretty embarrassing." Buffy wasn’t embarrassed.. she was mortified!
"Probably just as embarrassing as when you discovered at 14 your mother and I still had
sex." He chuckled at her outraged reaction at the time when she caught them in the middle of their own indelicate moment.Buffy chuckled and said, "Let's NOT go there OK ?"
They sat in silence for a moment and then Hank breaks it, saying, "You really love him,
don't you? This isn't some sort of school-girl crush rebellion thing is it?" he prayed that it was… but knew deep in his heart it wasn’t. his little girl had grown up… and laved a real honest to god vampire.Buffy smiled sweetly. "No, I love him more than my life."
"How the hell does a Slayer fall in love with a vampire? Talk about your Romeo and
Juliet, star crossed lovers. What about the future Buffy? What about your life? I thought eventually you would get married, have children. I so wanted to play with my grandchildren.. You're never going to go after a normal guy, are you? I want grandchildren more than your mother wants them. He'll live forever - what is
he, 245?"""Something like that." Buffy chuckled a little and said, "Star Crossed lovers? Don't I know it. I have to take what my fate throws at me. I know you want grandchildren … but I don’t know… I will never have another lover …Not while he lives. He may be immortal, but he can still be killed.”
"Yeah. But somehow I don't want to be the man who does it. Jesus, and I was mad cause I thought he was 24 or 25!" Hank couldn’t believe her lover had a bicentennial.
"After the demonstration today, you think you could?" Buffy smiled. Angel’s little demonstrations certainly cooled her father’s doubts and anger.
"No." He grimaced at how stupid he was thinking he could beat Angel up and then call the cops. He never had a chance. "I realized looking into those yellow eyes, my life was over at that minute, I never had a chance. God Buffy, you fight those things every night? *That* is a vampire?"
"Glad we cleared that up. Let you in on a secret...? It was a show - he never would have hurt you. He wanted you to see him for what he really is." Buffy felt weird telling her father the truth. It was odd to talk to him like an adult.
Hank looked at her with his eyebrows raised. "I know. That just makes it worse.” He chuckled sarcastically and added, "It was a pissing contest and I got hosed. You fell in love with him. Really fell in love. This is not a school girl crush, you are really in love with him, aren't you?" He looked at his little girl. She was no longer just his little girl. She was a Vampire Slayer with a lover. A Woman. When did she grow up so fast?
"Yes. I've lived without him Dad, when I thought I had killed him and sent him to Hell. I can't do it again. I may be young, but I know that I will never love anyone the way I love him... ever. I died inside when I thought I lost him…" Tears filled her eyes just at the thought. She couldn’t bear losing him again.
"Jesus Buffy, I looked into those eyes, into that face and I realized my life was over…
the minute he laid a hand on me I never had a chance. Good God, Buffy, that is a
vampire... you fight those every night. Aren't you afraid he'll hurt you?""No! ANGEL would never hurt me." She smiled at the thought of his strong cool arms around her. “He wouldn't hurt you either, believe it or not, that was a scare tactic. You didn't ever risk being killed, you just picked the wrong... species, to go up against."
"Oh yeah, that just makes it worse. I realize as I said before, I know it was a
pissing contest and I got hosed. My daughter... my baby girl is in love with a 245 year
old vampire. He's taken your heart and he's locked it away.” He looked at his hands. This was hard but he had to know. “What about hurting me though? I just knew I was dead meat, he was going to kill me and there was nothing I could do about it.Buffy knew the fear Hank had of Angel would never entirely go away. "I love him. That's not gonna change."
"Buffy, I want you to have a future - can he give that to you? Can he make you happy? You have given your heart to him. He's taken your heart and locked it in a box. Now
there will be no grandchildren in my life..." He looked down. He didn’t realize how much he craved the normal things every father wanted for his daughter. Things now he knew his baby may never live long enough to have.“Dad… He's the only man I have ever meet who understands me. He makes me so happy... you'll never know..." She drifted off a silly look on her face. Hank was glad she found a man she loved enough to put that look on her face. He was sorry it was a 245 year old vampire who did it.
"Buffy, what do I do now? How do I face him?" He asked quietly.
"Like the man I know you are. Accept him, as he truly is." Buffy looked at her dad. This was the first adult type conversation they had ever had. It was nice.
"A demon in love with my daughter?" He sighed.
"If he didn't want you to know, he never would have slid into game face. He was just
protecting me.""Formidable protection." Hank shuddered at the thought. That monster was not something he wanted to ever face again.
"Yeah, he is." She chuckled and added, "And whatever you do, don't call him Dead Boy."
"Who has the balls to call him Dead Boy? I have insulted him and been taught the hard way it is not wise. My god his face, his fangs… I was sure I was dead….. 'Game face'?" hanks was amazed someone actually called him dead boy…
"Xander - he's jealous. The grrrrrrrr face… I call it game face for lack of a better term." She smiled
Hank laughed at the image, and asked, "Is that what the red head meant about the grrrrrrrrrrrr face?"
"Yeah - he's kinda cute," She smiled and chuckled.
"Excuse me if I don't think so, personally, I thought it was hideous. The thought of him holding you terrifies me.." Hank frowned at the thought of him holding his baby… those fangs…
"No - Angelus is hideous," Buffy stopped and shuddered.
He heard the change in the tone of voice. "And who is Angelus?"
"The demon. They are part of the whole. Angelus doesn't have all of Angel - he still
has his soul..." Hank looked at her confused.Angel's voice came from behind them, saying, "You need to know how vampires are made to truly understand. When a vampire is made, the demon takes over the body. When the victim is changed, the soul is gone," as he stepped out onto the porch blinking in the sunlight.
"Angel! Get back inside!" Buffy was horribly alarmed by his being out in the daylight.
Angel continued, "Mine went by my birth name, Angelus. We differentiate between me and the demon by the name. I am Angel, with a soul. My body controlled by the demon without the soul is Angelus." He broke of to tell Buffy, "I'm OK, baby. I am not in the direct sun, I can take it awhile." Angel stepped out further onto the porch, wincing in the light, he then backed away from the sunlight, and addressed Hank, "This wasn't how I wanted to meet you."
"I never thought he would at all." Buffy mumbled under her breath
"Actually Buffy, I had plans after your birthday to make myself more known to your
mother and to start to court you more properly, and eventually meet your father.” He turned to Hank. “I planned to meet with you, and to formally ask permission to date her."Buffy stared at him and said, "My God - you're serious…" she shook her head as if to clear it.
"Yes, I am very serious. As to your question of children. I am a vampire. I can't
father children. Nor can I harbor diseases." Upon seeing Hank's upset face, he added, "But not every human is fertile either. Her involvement with me will never limit Buffy to a barren status. Not in this day and age, with medicine as advanced as it is." He looked at Buffy and said, "I think she will have lovely children. I think Buffy will make a wonderful Mother and have beautiful children... but right now it isn't appropriate to plan for children... she *is* 17” Angel smiled at Buffy thinking of how she would look with children at her side…Hank looked at him sharply, "You would let her..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4/Angel laughed a short nervous laugh. "I don't 'let' Buffy do anything, there are a lot of ways for her to become pregnant, when *she* desires it, and the time is appropriate for her.”
Buffy stared at Angel in shock. He had actually thought this out! He had thought of ways getting her pregnant! "Guys - can we like leave this discussion now?" She felt the blush flush her face.
"Then go inside Buffy, I think Angel and I really need to talk. Alone." Hank looked at he vampire staying in the shadows… but willing to brave the sunlight just to talk to him. His love for his daughter must be incredible to allow him to brave death for her in such a way. He glanced at his daughter and saw the uncertainty in her every fiber.
"It's OK Buffy. Go see if Xander can get something for me?" Angel asked her gently. Raw need sounded in his voice that was plain only to Buffy. Hank, not knowing him, missed the clues he was hungry. Buff decided she wouldn’t tell him.
"Don't think Xander's gonna be thrilled." She tried to drag it out. Curiosity was killing her, she was dying to know what they would talk about. She knew it would be her.
Angel snorted. “Better getting than being."
"That may change his mind." Buffy chuckled loudly at that thought. She had tears in her eyes as she walked past him. Angel reached out and pulled her to him, whispering in her ear, "I love you... it will be OK, I promise."
"I know... it's not that-" Buffy sighed and melted into his touch…
"I know, it is the future thing." He knew how much she hated looking at the future. Terrified she wasn’t going to be in it. Terrified she would make all sorts of plans and then fall to some demon she wasn’t fast enough or strong enough to kill.
"We both know one day, I'm not gonna be so lucky." She leaned into him. Just his presence made her feel good. He made the now perfect and future tolerable
"I will see that does not occur, I give my word." He held her tightly.
"It already did Angel, ... screwed up the one in a generation thing big time." She saw his confusion. “Yeah, Kendra and Faith, I got Kendra killed. It was my fault. I should never have left them there alone." Her self guilt over Kendra’s death was plain for both men who loved her to see.
"No, Buffy, it wasn't your fault, she just wasn't strong enough to go up against Drusilla. It was a set up... please go inside and let me talk to your Dad?" He brushed her hair from
her face and kissed her forehead.NO CLUE part 2
Hank watched them talk. It was obvious they were two people very much in love and that he obviously didn't try to control her in any way. In a way that was scarier than if he had been controlling… cause now he knew he was going to lose his little girl
Buffy puled back and sniffed a little. "Yeah. I'll get Xander to go for... supplies."
"Thank you." His hunger was a coiling snake in his chest… one he was afraid would strike if it wasn’t sated soon. Buffy grinned, and teased him by turning her neck a little, as she asked, "Hungry now?"
He looked at her and growled lightly, "Don't tease me when I'm hungry."
Buffy grinned, "Sorry, couldn't resist." When she saw her father's horrified expression, she told him, "Dad, It’s OK, calm down. I was just playing!”
"Buffy? Lunch?" Angel called her to the task on hand, which was sustenance for him and clearing the area so he could talk man to man to her dad.
"Okaaaaaay." She kissed him briskly and went back into the house.
Angel looked at Hank, who looked like he was going to be ill. He needs to win over her Dad, or at least get Hank to accept him and that little interchange didn't help. A shook his head thinking * this is too much…* How much to tell him? He deserves to know it all. "I would never feed off Buffy... ever. I am sorry about scaring you inside, but I needed you to stop insulting her. Insulting me I can take, but not her. Can we go to the other side of the porch? The sun is really starting to bother me."
Hank nodded, trying to take it all in. Angel walked across the porch to the other side and sat in a chair, as deep into the shadow as he could get, but Hank was still standing in the sun, deep in thought, oblivious that Angel had moved and was waiting. Lost in thought, Hank was unaware Angel was waiting on him.* she's not my little girl any more... she's been so sad for so long... *
Angel waited, knowing how much he needs to win over Buffy's father. * How much to tell him? How much should he tell to the father, that I haven’t even told the daughter?*
Realizing that he had to tell Hank everything, Angel stood and walked back to where Hank was in the sun. Standing just outside of the lethal rays he began "I am sorry about scaring you inside.""Scared me shitless." Hank snorted. Damn near shit his pants he did.
"I don't take well to threats, so that was the idea. It also proved the vampire thing quite
effectively. I would never have hurt you. I do have one major advantage a "normal guy" wouldn’t have for Buffy, as consort to the Slayer... I am one mean SOB in a fight with vampires, demons and other creepy things”Hank stared at him thoughtfully. "She said that. But I don't understand - she fights the vampires... and you fight by her side?" The thought of fighting his own kind made Hanks skin crawl. How could he do it? How could Angel fight his own race?
"As the Slayer, she is a mystical creature as much as I. 'The one girl in all the world with the skill and the strength to slay the demons and the vampires.' Yes, I do fight the vampires at her side. I have guarded her back since the time she first met her first watcher while in LA."
Hank looked stunned. * He's been around her THAT long? * Hank looked at him long and hard. Here was a chance to get he answer to what he needed to know. "Will you tell me something please? When she came to stay with me last summer, she was different somehow. Angry, withdrawn… hurt. But she wouldn't tell me what was wrong. She wouldn’t talk about it but she had the worst nightmares."
Angel sighed. "You really want to know what happened?" he didn’t want to tell Hank. But if he didn’t he would never trust Angel again… and in a way he needed to know.
Hank knew it was something horrible. But… "No,… but I have to know."
"She fought the Master, an incredible strong Vampire King. She fought him and as it was prophesied, she died. Xander and I found her soon after, and Xander revived her with mouth to mouth. She then later killed the Master, but it affected her very deeply. To have died at 16."
"She died?" Hanks world stopped. His baby died? She had actually DIED?
Angel nodded. "That was when I got a small taste of what my life would have been like had she truly died. She died for only minutes, her heart and breathing had stopped. Xander did CPR and revived her. I didn't know how... Had Xander not done CPR on her, she would have died right then.” The pain at just the thought of her dying was plain on Angel’s face. “Not even your wife knows this. Buffy was dead, gone, long enough for the next Slayer to be called. Her name was Kendra, and when she died, Faith was activated. Slayers aren't known to be long lived, Mr. Summers. I can only think of a few circumstances where they even survived their tenure as Slayer." Hank leaned against the railing for support, taking a steadying breath, as Angel continued, "The average age of death for a Slayer is 18, the lucky may make 19." His voice hitched as he said, "My sole purpose in existing is to see she survives being a Slayer."
"Oh my God... seventeen? Lucky to see Nineteen?" Hank’s worst nightmare had just become a reality.
"Buffy doesn't 'know' these facts, but I sense she does sense them anyway. That is why she doesn't talk of the future. She doesn't see one for herself. She doesn't allow one for herself. I think it is also why she sees no reason to wait for anything. For a Slayer, tomorrow’s are never promised..." Angel glanced out at the sunlight grass… the sunlight burned him reflecting but he had to make Hank understand so he wouldn’t make life a living hell for Buffy
"My god... I never even knew." Hank looked at the vampire.. no man… who loved his little girl. Who already save her life once, and probably more times than he truly ever wanted to know about.
"No, you didn't, but I think you need to. I love you daughter more than my own existence. My only reason in existing is to assure with everything in my power she survives her tenure as Slayer. If that means being her lover, then so be it. If it means in 5 years, I need to step away and let her find a normal man to marry and live with after she isn't the Slayer I will do that too." The pain at the thought was more than he could face.. but for her he would serve up his heart and soul to her on a silver platter.
"Even I can see that she will never do that - she told me so herself … Do you actually think she would let you.?" Hank looked at him and asked wryly.
"No. I know she wouldn’t… I know. But I am prepared to do it if that is what I am needed to do. You need to know that." Angel looked down. Speaking of the obvious made it more real to him. She loved him and would do nothing to end the relationship. He knew this, and had finally accepted it in his heart.
Hank chuckled a little, and whispered mostly to himself, "You make her smile. She hasn't truly smiled in a long time."
"I exist to make her smile. I gave her a Claddagh ring the night of her 17th birthday as a symbol of my love. I gave it as a symbol of the fact I had given her my heart and soul.
Unfortunately the soul part had a curse on it. As long as she lives, there will never be
another in my life." He broke off at the screech of tires in the background, as Cordy and
Xander took off. "God, I think that woman's driving will kill one of us before we ever die
another way," he mumbled to himself. "Can I be rude, and ask again - can we go over to the other side, this sun is killing me... literally." A was squinting more and starting to flinch."Why don't we go back inside?" Hank said softly taking pity on the man who loved his little girl so much as to brave the sun just to talk to him.
"Even better." Angel led Hank back inside, and walked into the living room to a startling sight. Buffy was sitting on the couch crying a little, but she was obviously extremely angry. Angel immediately went to her and sat next to her and tried to hug her, asking "What's wrong, baby?" Willow was livid and shaking her head hard, while Giles was stuttering and mad. "What's going on?”
Buffy was so angry she couldn't even speak. Her face was flushed and her hands were clenched in tight fists. Angel looked at Giles with a question in his eyes, but he too was beyond speech. Finally Buffy got it out. "Xander… Xander lied to me” She spit the words in an angry fury, and it was obvious she was so angry she couldn’t continue.
Angel had seen Buffy angry at Xander before but never like this. "Who, Xander? About what? Xander lied to you Buffy? What did he lie about?”
Willow was in tears… "Buffy I'm so sorry. I never would have sent him… if I knew he was gonna… lie to you."
Oz was the only one who seemed calm enough to speak. Even he was angry on Willow's behalf. "That morning, when Buffy went to stop Acathla and to fight… Angelus...when Willow was in the hospital.." Angel looked at Oz and nodded. "She told Xander she was going to recurse you, and she sent him to tell Buffy to hold off until she knew if it worked..."
Hank sat down listening to the conversation. He was finally feeling that he was finally getting to be involved in the slayer things with Buffy. This was a major thing, and for once he wasn’t being left out. Oz continued, "But he didn't tell her what Will was doing. He didn’t tell her Willow was recursing you…"
"Oh god...” Angels mind ran over the options, had Buffy thought there was a way to save him, and what it would have really meant for her.. . “GOOD! I am glad he didn't tell her that Willow would try again. Had he did it, it could have ruined her fighting ability!"
Buffy was outraged at that thought. "WHAT?!"
"Buffy, you would have died in the sword fight with Angelus if you had held back one little bit. He was done playing games, and he opening the gates of Hell. The games were over. He was going to kill you and bring you across." Angel was ashamed to have known precisely the horrible things Angelus had in mind for the diminutive Slayer.
"That isn't why Xander didn't tell me - and I would have fought my hardest anyway." She tried to get him and herself to understand. It was the betrayal.
"Buffy, if you had done any of the half-assed fighting you had done previously, you would have died.” Angel tried to hold her but she was too angry and shrugged out of his embrace. Angel continued. “He was counting on you to not want to kill him, so he could kill you! I love you too much and know you too well. You would have held back. You would have died when he had you up against the wall and had disarmed you."
Slowly she turned her face to him, with a dangerous expression. In a slow voice she asked, "What did you just say?" Raw anger flowed off her. Gone was the teenage girl. There was The Slayer.
"I love you too much, and know you too well. You would have held back." Angel was well aware it was the Slayer he dealt with now. Angel drifted off wondering * what did I do? * He needed to make her realize… "Buffy, Angelus wasn't playing games anymore he fully intended to kill you." Angel finished, confused and lost looking back and forth between Buffy and Giles.
Giles tried to slow the Slayer from doing something stupid "Now Buffy, I'm sure he didn't mean that... it just slipped out in the passion of the moment." She looked at Giles with a look of raw anger.
"Not what I heard." Buffy was cold and calculating. For the first time in their relationship Angel felt a deep fear creeping in his veins. "Angelus wanted to kill me ever since I knocked his block off, after I blew up the Judge... and since when did I ever fight half-assed?!" Her voice rose a slight notch with every word.
"Well, you didn't kill him when you had him in the mall... In the grave yard...” Angel began to list slowly. He thought back and realized he just told the Slayer she was a half assed fighter. Oh Shit.
"Didn't kill him - but I hurt him damn good!" She laughed sourly at that. She had hurt him… but not as much as he had hurt her.
"Buffy, You had him cold in the Mall, stake in the hand. You should have killed him...you could have killed him cold… all you did was kick him in the balls." Angel winced at the memory of that, and crossed his legs with the memory of it. It still hurt at time to think of the pain that blow had inflicted. Every guy in the room flinched and crossed their legs at the thought of a ball shot out of a slayer....
"You're about to get another dose..." She growled at him. Call her fighting half assed.
Angel winced at the memory and the threat. "Buffy, please. I was in Angelus' head, I know what he was thinking." His skin crawled with what Angelus was thinking…
"All right - if you knew what he was thinking, why didn't he kill me all the times when he had the chance?" Anger flowed off her in waves.
"Fascination with you initially. Because he liked to play with you. It was stimulating to bait and tease the Slayer and walk away from it. No vampire on record could claim to bait the slayer, and live like he was doing. Maybe his opinion flavored the memory... but you were capable of killing him for such a long time... you just couldn't do it because you loved me. He was going to use that against you in the end.."
Buffy started to crumble, and said, "I couldn't do it... every time I looked at him it ripped
my heart out..." Angel pulled her to him and held her as she cried. He knew she loved him. That must have hurt her more than anything.Angel held her tightly and told her, "I know, baby. But what was worse, Angelus knew it too. He used it to his advantage. That final battle, he was going to use it to kill you and turn you. If you hadn't been prepared to kill him, you would have died and the world would now be in Hell."
Buffy looked off to the side out the window. "I would have let him." She finally admitted to herself. It pained her to know he would have won.
"I know, and dammit, so did Xander. He had Angelus' number from day one. I am thankful to the Gods that he lied to you." He held her gently as he stroked her hair. Gone was the angry Slayer, now only the heart broken girl remained.
"I thought it was because he was jealous of you.” She murmured into his chest.
Angel conceded her point. "There may be a part of that, but more, I feel he was afraid you would falter if you thought there was any chance. That is the main reason I feel Xander lied to you." her heart break for him was sad to see, and broke his heart. He couldn’t believe his gift of her love.
"But, I could have… done…..something. Maybe kept him away from Acathala… or thought of another way… to close the vortex." She was flailing in her need to think there had been away to save her lover.
Angel know there had been other rare and impossible hard to do options….but no one needed to know that they existed. Especially her, now. "No, I do not see that there was any other way, except what was done. I had two hundred plus years to replay that scene in my mind Buffy, and trust me, in all the possible scenarios, the best one was what happened - believe me." He hated to lie to her, but he knew he lied to save her mind and her sanity.
"But what I did to you," she touched his chest where the sword went through him. "I hurt you so much..." Tears filled her eyes and leaked down her face.
"It had to be done. Buffy. You had no choice. The world is more important that one 245 year old vampire. My punishment was only of my own design. Angelus pulled the sword opening the vortex. You had to close it using the blood of the body that opened the vortex. You had no choice. I know that." He held her close grateful she had found the power to stop Angelus. Thankful she hadn’t allow Angelus to draw the world into Hell
Buffy slowly crumpled in his arms, saying, "Didn't want to-"
"-let you go." Angel finished. "I know baby. I know you didn't want to, you just had to. You sent me to Hell, but I came back. I will always come back as long as I am able to… I will never voluntary leave you. I learned the lesson of saying never. I heard you in hell when you said I told you I would never leave... I am here for as long as you want me."."
"Don't leave me again…” Buffy quoted softly, "Forever - that's the whole point..."
Angel held her. She remembered the dreams…"Baby, as long as I live and as long I have control of my life, I will be where you want me. If that is forever, then it is forever."
"It really was you in that dream…" She looked up at him surprised. The dreams had saved her life. Saved her from letting the next slayer be called and take over.
"I tried to reach you several times in dreams... once in a cemetery about Jenny,"
Buffy's eyes opened wide, "Once we watched the sunset on the beach, sometimes your own guilt would override the dream like the one at the Bronze. I tried to ease your guilt, but you would have none of it." Buffy looked stunned as he said, "I came to you in a lot of dreams, Buffy... not that I want to discuss them *all* of them here," clearly implying her knew of her erotic ones of him also.That registered, and Buffy looked at him slyly and added, "I know."
Angel whispered, "I love you. Baby, please, for all of us, let it go with Xander. He did what needed to be done, and for it I am thankful. He saved your life, when I couldn't protect you."
Buffy wrapped her arms around his neck. "For you." She wanted to rend Xander from limb to limb… but if Angel wanted him forgiven… then she would forgive him.
"Yes for me. Let it go." He sighed into her hair. Angel gave her a sly grin and told her, "I need to know the irritating little bastard is there protecting you when I can't."
The whole group chuckled at that description of Xander. Buffy told Angel, "If you can forgive me - then I can forgive him... What I did to you was much worse."
"There was nothing to forgive, but if you need it, I forgive you." Angel whispered into her hair
"But I don't know if I can forgive myself." She moaned as she leaned into his embrace.
Hank stared at the interchange, amazed at the maturity of Angel. To have been sent to hell, for over two hundred years, and to still forgive and love the one who sent you… my God."Then if you won't forgive yourself for you, will you forgive yourself for me?" He whispered huskily in her ear, "Will you do that for me?" His voice was low and husky. The passion in his voice was plain to all and making Hank plainly uncomfortable
Buffy said, "I don't think I'm the one who has to," and looked at Giles sadly.
Angel looked at Giles, confused and sad. "I have my own guilt here, both for Jenny and the torture Angelus put you through Giles. I am sorry…" he drifted off… at a loss at how to apologize to a man whose life he ruined.
"I know that it wasn't you.” Giles said quietly. He avoided looking at his Slayer in the arms of the man whose body, while under a demon’s control, killed Jenny.
“But it doesn't make it any easier, seeing me with Buffy now." Angel said softly. He knew he couldn’t have been as tolerant to the man’s whose body had killed Buffy. He didn’t know how Giles did it
Giles admitted reluctantly, "No, it doesn't." Joyce walked up behind Giles and put her arm around him in mute quiet support. "But you love her. For her, I will accept it." Hank stared at Joyce, then Giles and back, he picked it up. His wife is involved with his daughters' Watcher!
"Thank you. It is more than I deserve."
Buffy said to Giles, "I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you, or her."
Xander came back in with containers that he carried to the kitchen and then came into the living room trying to stay away from everyone.
"I would have done the same thing had it been reversed." Giles admitted. If it had been Jenny who had been possessed and killed angel… he would have accepted her back. He knew this.
“I know.” Buffy said softly.
"So where is this bastard Angelus now?" Hank wanted to know this bastard was dead. He wanted to know that he couldn’t hurt his little girl anymore. He had obviously devastated this collection of Warriors of Light.
"Don't think you really want to know, Dad." Buffy said quietly. She didn’t want to tell him about THAT.
"Yes, I want to know, if this bastard can come back and hurt you. I want to know." Hank insisted.
Buffy sighed. " I don't know if he can come back." She prayed with every fiber of her being he couldn’t. Everyone in the room mirrored her heartfelt prayer.
Angel saw he had to comment. "I was recursed. When the curse worked, without the vengeance clause. Angelus is where is belongs, locked inside of me." Angel told Hank slowly. Hank turned and looked at Angel.
Hank stared in shock and building horror. "You still carry Angelus inside you?" The monster who tired to kill his baby girl, killed the Watcher’s girlfriend and tried to destroy the world was locked in Angel?
"Yes, I do. He will be with me as long as I exist." Angel told Hank quietly and then whispered to Buffy, "He needed to know, baby." She held him tight and nodded her head in agreement.
Xander was trying to hide, but Cordy was bitching at him. Angel didn’t catch the argument, and with the way they argue all the time, he could really care less…
"Xander...." Angel called the teen’s attention to himself with a slight growl in his voice.
Xander looked like a deer caught in the headlights, and said, "Uh oh..." Angel looked mean and formidable. Hank was glad he wasn’t the one on the vampires shit list. "You owe me an apology."Frantically Xander looked around. "I think I should be somewhere...else… that is not here."
As Xander started babbling, Angel added, "Come on I won't hurt you. Just tell me the truth... why did you lie to Buffy?”
Xander got mad and blurted out: " 'Cause Angelus deserved to die for what he did to Miss Calendar, Buffy, Giles and Willow. If Buffy knew, she would have waited too long, and she'd be dead and we'd all be alone in Hell right now... and now I think I'm gonna book while it's still daylight." He started to get up and was stopped by Angel’s next comment.
"I knew that was your reasoning.... Thank you for doing it, Xander." Angel held her tight as he addressed the teen. "She would have died if you had told her... Angelus was counting on her not wanting to kill him, so he could kill and turn her."
Xander looked sadly at Buffy and said, "If I had know the spell would work..."
Buffy hated to, but she promised Angel. "It's me who should be apologizing to you...I'm sorry. You got pulled into something that could have gotten you - could have gotten you ALL - killed. The blame belongs at my feet..."
Angel hugged Buffy tighter as Willow said, "Buffy, we are all here because we chose to be here."
"He could have killed you Will. That would have destroyed me." Tears slid down her face with the horrible remembrance if Jenny’s death
Willow laughed. "Yeah, and we can get killed by getting hit by a bus too, or by a drive by shooting if that should ever happen here - or choking on my mothers' chicken salad." Buffy started to laugh a little as Willow continued, "We all can die, and will all die eventually of old age if nothing else - Angel excluded." The hacker nodded to the immortal.
Oz added a wry comment to the conversation, glad it was getting away form blame and guilt. "I'm putting my money on your mom's chicken salad. It’s not that bad if you remember to pick out the bones first."
Angel shook his head. "Remind me never to eat this chicken salad stuff you're talking about - ugh."
Cordelia who had kept her mouth shut most of the conversations finally piped in. "So OK - are we like back to the normal level of weirdness now or what?" She looked around at the slayerettes and taking in Hank the new addition.
Angel snickered. "Normal level of weirdness I guess, you're grossing me out with the thought of bones in the food." Angel hid his face in Buffy's hair. He was too hungry to face the idea of bones….
Xander scoffed. "Like your liquid diet is appetizing to us?"
Angel laughed. "Hey I am stuck with my diet… sorry.. plus, food was realfood in the 1700's, god knows what you guys are eating."
Buffy slowly turned in his arms and pulled his head down so she could whisper in his ear, "What do I taste like...?" Finishing it with a little lick to his ear.
The question brought up thoughts and reactions he wasn’t prepared to deal with. "Ahha ahahah ahaha-" The usually unflappable vampire was at a loss for words and his body’s reaction was hard against her back
Buffy felt the response to her question pushing against her, before Angel said, "I have been up to long in the daylight, I need to get into the dark. Nice meeting you Mr. Summers." He nodded quickly to the rest, and escaped up the stairs.
Buffy watched him go, and giggled, "I love it when he does that." Willow, Cordelia and Joyce started to chuckle while the guys were oblivious as to what happened. Buffy slowly walked to her dad, who looked down at her and smiled. "I know this is a lot. Can you handle this Dad?"
Hank smiled at her. "Yes, yes I can. I can see he loves you very much. I think his uniqueness will benefit you a lot.” He stopped remembering Angels comment on Slayer life expectancy. “Promise me Buffy, you will always accept their help I know it is hard, you and I are much alike."
"Unique. That's a new one.” Buffy laughed. “Well, sounds better than condition. Which sounds better than freak. I'll try Dad... We can talk about everything later, when we don't have an audience... maybe on my next visit?" She looked up at him with impish eyes.
Hank hugged her tightly and whispered in her ear, "When he gets his nerves up and proposes to you, I don't want to be the last to know OK?" before he let her go. He knew he would ad well as he knew she would say yes, as well as he knew the sun woukd irse n the morning.
Buffy said, in a voice only he could hear, "Well then, I'll let you be the first," smiling a
little. Hank smiled and nodded as he walked out to head for his home in LA. For the first time since he had found out about the Slayer stuff, he felt good.Giles sighed. It had been a long and emotionally draining time. "I think I will be going, it has been a long day," starting to rise and collect his things.
The others nod as Willow came up to Buffy and told her, "I am glad he's back. I will like to really see you smile again, that was the other spell I did... but we didn't know if it worked... you know when I told you of the spells I did when you returned? I wanted to, you were so sad without him."
"Thanks to you, Will. So I have you to thank for giving him back to me." Buffy grabbed her in a tight hug. "Thank you - you will never know what it means to me."
Willow laughed. "Well, Oz and I are going on a real date so we'll see ya." They left leaving an uncomfortable Xander.
Xander walked up as Oz and Willow left. "I am sorry I lied to you Buffy, but I really felt I needed to."
"It's OK, but please, no more snide remarks, OK?" Buffy put her arms out and hugged him…
Xander looked insulted. "Me, without snide remarks?"
Buffy laughed a little, and said, "All right - but if he beats you half to death because of
another Dead Boy, I won't stop him!"Xander laughed "OK. There is some blood in the fridge, better get it to him before your mom thinks it's V8."
Buffy laughed at the vision of her mother running into the blood in the refrigerator. "No kidding."
Cordelia said, "A real date…sounds like a plan... come on dork boy." Xander took that chance to run off with Cordelia
Buffy smiled to herself as she mumbled “I think I've got a date myself..." anticipating finding Angel nude in her bed in her room.
Joyce looked at Buffy, seeing the look in her eye. "He looked worn out baby - don't kill him," as she walked away, leaving Buffy to stare after her mother in shock.
Buffy roused herself out of her shock and turned to Giles who was leaving. "Thank you..."
Giles was confused. "For what Buffy?"
She hung her head. She hated that she got her love back form Hell, yet Jenny was still dead. "For not hating me."
"I told you before Buffy, I do not hate you." Giles sighed. She could be the most exasperating pain in the ass… but he didn’t hate her. “I love you Buffy. Your important to me.”
Buffy decided to take the bull by the horns. "Well then, how about for loving me enough to accept him again...?" He looked out the window. She all ways asked for the hard stuff without even thinking. He took a deep sigh and then nodded. She decided in for a ounce.. in for a pound. "Why don't you go find my mom?" She smiled knowingly when Giles looked up at her startled. “What - think I didn't notice?"
Giles tried miserably to look unaffected as he asked "Notice what?"
Buffy smiled at her Watcher. "I want you to be happy. You deserve it after what I did... and so does she."
Giles looked at her, anger flashing in his eyes. "Are offering me your mother as a consolation prize?"
Buffy was surprised. "No - never a consolation. I can never give you back what was lost..." Buffy looked down.
Giles looked at his Slayer. He knew she would never forgive herself for not killing Angelus in enough time to save Jenny. "I know. I am sorry, that was rude."
Buffy looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Jenny loved you Giles-…. I never wanted to take that away from you."
Giles agreed with her sadly. "I know. I loved her too, and we may have had wonderful things together but that was not to be."
Buffy looked at him. "I want you to be happy. Besides - Mom thinks you're cute. Think she went outside… why don’t you go check?”
"Oh. OK. I will see you… later..." He started to wander off in search of Joyce.
Buffy muttered, "Much, much later," as she went to the fridge and took out one container of blood. She thought about it and took another one, before heading up the stairs with a smile on her face.
She walked into the darkened room to see Angel sprawled on her bed, nude deep in sleep and the smile widened on her face.
